Bloom Upstate: Root & Bloom-Doing it for the Culture! (Sistas In Bloom Ages 13-18)

This years summer learning program for Bloom Upstate is a joyful, hands-on exploration of the rich cultural traditions of the African continent. Held at the Spartanburg Art Museum from July 7–11, this immersive experience will take campers on a journey through rhythm, movement, and creativity. Participants will engage in traditional West African drumming and dance, learn the art of tying head wraps, and hear powerful stories passed down through generations. Through interactive mapping, campers will explore Africa’s diverse regions, and in the art studio, they’ll create African-inspired pottery and vibrant cultural masks. Root & Bloom is a celebration of heritage, identity, and connection—where every child is invited to dig deep, grow strong, and bloom boldly.

Salvation Army Summer Camp is the place to be this summer! For ages 5 through 14, children are able to participate in different activities such as creative arts, organized sports, field trips, Water Wednesdays & more!

City of Spartanburg: Junior Lifeguard Program

There’s not many jobs that you can try first to see if you like it. Well with the JR LG program, you can do this. You can learn from real Lifeguards- they will teach you proper swim strokes, water safety, rescue techniques. and basic first aid. The program will build self-confidence and help prepare you for work as a lifeguard upon reaching 15 years old.
