Jul 7 - Jul 11

This years summer learning program for Bloom Upstate is a joyful, hands-on exploration of the rich cultural traditions of the African continent. Held at the Spartanburg Art Museum from July 7–11, this immersive experience will take campers on a journey through rhythm, movement, and creativity. Participants will engage in traditional West African drumming and dance, learn the art of tying head wraps, and hear powerful stories passed down through generations. Through interactive mapping, campers will explore Africa’s diverse regions, and in the art studio, they’ll create African-inspired pottery and vibrant cultural masks. Root & Bloom is a celebration of heritage, identity, and connection—where every child is invited to dig deep, grow strong, and bloom boldly.
