National Gun Violence Awareness Weekend | Spartanburg County

Join the Stop The Violence Coalition and STV Youth Alliance for Spartanburg County’s inaugural Wear Orange Weekend in observance of National Gun Violence Awareness Day, June 5–7, 2026.

This countywide weekend of awareness, remembrance, healing, and community action will honor survivors, remember loved ones lost to gun violence, uplift youth voices, and bring the community together in support of safer neighborhoods for all.

Spartanburg County and the City of Spartanburg have officially recognized the first Friday in June as National Gun Violence Awareness Day through local proclamations, marking a significant community commitment to peace, prevention, and unity.

Weekend events include:
• Proclamation presentation and community recognition
• Teen Night Out youth celebration
• Community outreach and Peace Walk
• Faith-based recognition services
• Community Night of Prayer & Remembrance

Wear Orange is encouraged throughout the weekend in solidarity with survivors, families, and advocates working to end gun violence.
